This one got to the point where I don't know what to do, so I'll just stick all the bits together...
The roundels, fin flash and serial are home made decals, see those horrible edges on the serial, need to figure out how to stop that on clear decals... the 11 and bomb were painted using frisk film as masks. I am officially a convert to frisk film for masking, be trying codes next.
Successfully used parafilm for the canopy masking, a pain to take off, and had to scrape with a tooth pick to get it off. I'm not a convert to paraflim, this is about the fourth I've done, and I'll be going back to tape edges and fill the rest with masking fluid. Or painted decal film as frames.
My normal airbrushed prop blur disk, I wasn't sure how it'd look on 48th but its a good un.
There's no wing pitot, because I didn't like the look of it, and it wouldn't last in our house...
I enjoyed the kit, my first foray into 48th for a lot of years, had a bit of trouble with the chin scoop, all my own fault, but a nice build.
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Jim

Captured Bf109F NN644 -White 11 Part 9
Cut out some frisk masks, and sprayed the 11 and bomb insignia..
I'm definitely a new fan of frisk film, I'll be trying it out for other codes on future builds.

Captured Bf109F NN644 -White 11 Part 8
Dark Green and Decals are on..
The decals worked really well, i brushed a coat of Klear over them after the problems with Hoimann's and that did the trick, no ink coming off the edges.
Next have to make the 11 and bomb shape mask for the fuselage.

Well the pink undercoat for the yellow is a great thing.
Really gets density right on a thin coat.
Here's my test model with black then a squiggle of pink and a couple of passes of yellow.
Also painted up a prop blur disc for it..
and printed out some decals..
So let the yellow harden up and then mask the undersurfaces.

Captured Bf109F NN644 -White 11 Part 5
Painted a pink as an undercoat to the yellow undersurfaces. Its a technique I've seen Mike Grant do, so worth a shot.
Get the yellow on next..

Captured Bf109F NN644 -White 11 Part 4
Fuselage is together, the chin scoop front is an insert, which I couldn't put in as Arifx say, due to cementing the engine cowling to each fuselage half, to get a better fit. So it ended up a rubbish fit, I carved the front away, and then used some plasticard to make a new lip.
A bit more fill 'n sand on this and the wings can go on.

So cockpit and pilot is fitted, and I've added the brass square tube for the mount I'll be using.
Been tidying up the exhausts..
opened up the first three and whittled the front exhaust stack.
Wheels and undercarriage covers are done,
there's a big empty space at the fuselage end, which I might add a section of sprue just so its not an empty hole.
Happy Fill'n sanding..

BF 109F-4 NN644 of No.1426 (Enemy Aircraft) Flight, RAF Colly Weston, late 1943
formerly WNr 7233 White 11, of IV/./JG 26, wheels up landing at Beachy Head 20 May 1942, flown by Uffz. Oswald Fischer of 10.(Jabo)/JG 26. Stationed at Omer/Fort Rouge. His aircraft was hit in the engine by anti-aircraft fire while attacking a British Corvette at Newhaven Harbor. The engine was replaced at RAF Collyweston, the original having only 1-1/2 hours of use. The white 11 and falling bomb emblem was retained though the aircraft was repainted in RAF colors.
Another interesting subject, and the only 109F I have is an Airfix 1/48 one, not my normal scale, havn't done 1/48th in a very long time.
Well a novelty for me, a figure with separate arms, so only a few mods: carve away the Luftwaffe sausage life vest, add a neck addition, and turn his head a bit....
added some 5thou card belts and some scalpel packet foil harness straps.
From the few parts I've removed and test fitted so far, I'm liking this one, seems to fit well and not much flash.
